Dealing with social isolation: survey & webinar

The BEARR Trust invites CSOs in Eastern Europe, Central Asia and South Caucasus to take part in our survey on dealing with social isolation, and to join our webinar in Spring, during which we will share and discuss best practices.

We reviewed 143 responses to The BEARR Trust’s 2021 CSO survey and found that social isolation among different vulnerable groups was widely reported by CSOs in our region.

One of the main concerns for organisations working with different vulnerable groups was that anti-Covid measures have inhibited their ability to provide services to people with disabilities, the elderly, low-income households etc. Limitations on indoor gatherings – and in some cases even closures of centres where the sessions for these groups had already been scheduled – meant that many organisations felt they lacked the means to work with their beneficiaries properly. However, our 2021 survey also showed that the need for support had significantly increased, as the Covid pandemic intensified various social issues and continues to do so.

The BEARR Trust is launching a new 2022 survey for CSOs to facilitate the sharing of ideas, best practices, and innovative approaches to working with vulnerable groups suffering from social isolation due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. We hope to hear from CSOs in the region through both their contributions to this survey and their participation in our webinar in spring 2022, where best practices will be presented and discussed.

We work with CSOs in the following countries:
Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan.

The webinar:

  • will focus on innovative solutions and replicable ideas
  • will be held with simultaneous English & Russian interpretation, allowing a wider audience to join & contribute
  • will feature at least one speaker from the UK CSO sector, who will share relevant best practices
  • will feature other panelists who represent CSOs from the countries of our region
  • will be held in spring 2022
  • will be free to join

We are grateful to all who contribute to the survey and hope the webinar will be useful. If you have any questions, please contact Anna Lukanina-Morgan at
